Meru: Meru Governor Peter Munya says devolution will help Kenya confront challenges that have plagued it since independence.
“Today we are faced with the challenge of poverty, which our forefathers were fighting and unemployment amongst our youth and as leaders we have to show the fight was not in vain,” Munya said during the jubilee celebrations in Meru.
He assured his people that his government was working hard to improve their livelihoods by improving infrastructure and boosting the economy.
Munya also told the security agencies to pull up their socks and battle the rising insecurity in the county.

His concerns were shared by MPs Rahim Dawood (Imenti North) and Kubai Kiringo (Igembe Central), who said there were reports of rising insecurity across the county.
Rahim said police are reluctant to take action. “Recently my hotel was robbed and the area chief managed to capture the robbers and recovered the items, but the police have neither arrested the culprits nor showed any concern,” claimed Rahim.
