Bungoma County: Police in Bungoma are holding a man aged 50 for attempting to transport a gun in a public service vehicle.
The civilian was arrested with an AK-47 rifle and six rounds of ammunition after he boarded a matatu at Chwele Market.
Police identified him as Sammy Kohera, who is said to have come from Uganda and was on his way to Kuria.
The suspect is said to have bought a bag of potatoes and tried to conceal the firearm inside it, but a hawk-eyed trader spotted him and alerted police officers as he boarded a Bungoma-bound matatu.
