It can be tricky to find out just what our skin needs, so we've taken it back to basics with these three easy steps.

1. Keep it clean

Cleansing is the most important part of your routine. Blocked pores are the main cause of blemishes and oily skin, so wash your face twice a day with a mild cleanser.

For smooth skin, exfoliate weekly with a soft scrub like Palmer’s Cocoa Butter

2. Hydrate & protect

No matter what your skin type, you must moisturise. Those with oily skin assume a moisturiser will make their skin shinier, but oil glands actually go into overdrive if they don’t get enough nourishment.

Look for a product which protects skin from damage and fights signs of ageing.

3. And don’t forget...

Add in extra boosters. If you’re worried about little lines and wrinkles round your eyes, use an anti-ageing eye cream which helps hydrate, brighten and plump.
