Kenya: Governors are scheduled to hold their second summit next week in Naivasha to review counties’ performance for the previous year.
Former Ghanaian President John Kufuor will be the chief guest at the event dubbed ‘Governance through inclusivity’ at Enashipai Restore.
“The second Governors’ Summit will take place on February 26 and 27,” reads part of the invite to governors through the Council of Governors (CoG).
County chiefs who are unable to attend the meeting have been advised to send their deputies to represent them.
Apart from reviewing resolutions made at the first Summit, the governors are expected to deliberate on a myriad of issues touching on financial management and development.
CoG Chairman Isaac Ruto (Bomet) will seek to asses the development and growth of counties, best management practices and review past performance indicators.
“We are going to discuss many issues affecting counties. This includes evaluating the achievements and challenges encountered so far in the running of county governments,” said Ruto.
The two-day meeting will set off the countdown to the Devolution Conference to be held in April
