Treat yourself this weekend to a perfectly cooked T-bone steak, served with tender asparagus and smothered in a rich, savoury mushroom sauce.
What you will need:
1 kg of T-bone steak, cut into slices
1 teaspoon of black peppercorns
Salt to taste

Oil for pan-searing
For the asparagus:
250 g asparagus, cut into pieces
1 tsp garlic and ginger mince
1 tablespoon of margarine
Salt and pepper to taste
What to do:
Season the steak with salt and pepper. In a skillet over medium high heat, add the oil and pan-sear the steak for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
Remove from the heat and leave to rest.
Next, in a pan over medium heat, add the margarine and saute the minced garlic and ginger until golden brown. Then add the asparagus and saute until the colour changes to a deep green.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then serve with the steak and mushroom sauce.
