Multi-award winning Afro-pop group Sauti Sol, released a hot new single dubbed ‘Friendzone’ last week. The audio release was accompanied by a WhatsApp themed, Emoji-only (lyric) video.
The emoji lyric video is the first of a three part video release for the song friend zone. The song has been well received among their fans and even on the airwaves.
Speaking about what influenced them, Bien said, “Right now somewhere in the world, there is always someone in the friend zone and there is someone trying to get out of the friend zone.
There is always going to be a “friendzoner” and a “friendzonee.” This song is a dedication for that very awkward moment.”
“As part of our majority we try to sing songs that make people happy but we also tell people stories.
Songs that people can relate to. People use emoji’s in our everyday lives, they are slowly replacing the actual words,” added Savara during an interview.
Generally, the emoji lingo is taking over the world, becoming a universal language regardless the language you communicate in.
A hilarious animation emoji movie is set to premiere end of this month worldwide.
Sauti Sol is a brand built on being unconventionally conventional. They are currently on a tour in Canada, an extension of their mega album tour of 21 cities across the world dubbed 'Live and Die in Afrika Tour.
