Laura Wasike at a Kakamega court

A woman had to pay Sh50,000 bond at a Kakamega court after she was accused of assaulting another woman for allegedly stalking her husband. The complainant identified as Edith Nyila was reportedly on her way to a posho mill in Ivakale, Kakamega, when the accused, Laura Wasike, blocked her way, the court heard. It is alleged that the accused demanded to know why Nyila was always following her husband.

The incident took place at about 5pm on July 25. Nyila is said to have ignored the accused’s probing. But as she returned from the posho mill, the accused is said to have waylaid her and proceeded to whip her on the back and neck with a stick. Wasike, the court heard, went on to bite Nyila’s right arm before she was rescued by neighbours. The complainant who denied the charge told the court:  “She’s persistent at luring my husband. I neither bit nor beat her up.” The case will be heard on October 25.
