It was barbaric and uncouth for Pieter De Jongh to cancel last Friday's friendly match with hosts Kenyatta University, due to what he termed as 'unplayable ground'. With the league on recess owing to international break, that was a perfect training match for the boys to keep in good shape ahead of the rescheduled Sony Sugar match. The team arrived at KU on time ready for the match, but after inspecting the pitch, the Dutchman said the bumpy playing surface would cause injuries to his players. However, the question is, how many times have Leopards played on uneven pitches, for instance Muhoroni and no player was injured? That's a vague excuse from De Jongh and he owes KU an apology for wasting their time.
Political temperatures rising
It seems political fever is back at the den after Chairman Allan Kasavuli's decision to replace the suspended NEC members with his 2013 rival Dan Mule, Pamela Lutta and Engineer Maurice Alwanga. After being incorporated in the NEC, now sources within Mule's think tank are bruising for a transformation in preparation for the 2016 elections According to what his point man Boy Boy posted on his Facebook page on Tuesday "Lets rally behind the Team on the homestretch... #teamDanMule will be giving out 500 free tickets to INGWE fans who turn out to cheer the team.Transformation is coming!!!." It seems Mule is seizing the opportunity to prepare for the next elections in what we call Ingwe style of campaign. It will be remembered, One Ssemi Aina started with the same strategy of offering freebies to fans who are easily swayed e.g match tickets, handouts and transport to away matches. At the same time one of Mule's insiders are using the opportunity to push for one Vitor Salvado from Portugal to replace De Jongh. Salvado was disqualified last year after the officials found out that he falsified his coaching credentials.
NEC OWES NAKURU HOTEL
Reports emerging from Nakuru County indicate that NEC failed to clear hotel bills and some expenses after AFC Leopards' 2-0 victory over Nakuru AllStars on October 5, at Afraha Stadium. The incident did not go well with Simon Amulioto, a diehard Ingwe fan, who took to his Facebook account to condemn the club officials. "Kindly pay up those small monies owed to Pivot Hotel, Nakuru and stop the mickey mouse games of sneaking players out of hotels coz of pesa kidogo kama 30k," read Amulioto's post. "How can a bill of 75,500k accommodation and meals be a problem to big men and women! I sadly learn that Aladwa had promised to settle the balance but changed mind between buying booze to some fans and did not receive not call back when contacted. "PLEASE: Don't spoil the good name of the club by not being in good books with suppliers," he concluded.
