If you are unable to manage your frizzy hair and are frustrated by the look, worry no more since there are ways in which you can manage the look!

• To get frizz-free hair, always use hair shampoos, conditioners, and moisturisers that suit your hair type. Anti-frizz shampoo is available in beauty shops; do not, however, shampoo your hair more than twice a week.

• If you wash your hair on a daily basis, you deprive it of its essential natural oils. Too much shampoo on your hair can also reduce its moisture content, causing frizz

• Go for good quality cream conditioner. Deep conditioning your hair more than once a week is not advisable.

• Using a leave-in conditioner daily will help manage hair frizz since its oil content smoothens and softens the hair frizz.

• Never rub or comb your hair immediately after you wash it. A towel is ideal to squeeze out the extra moisture. You can then apply an anti-frizz, silicone-containing serum, which will help strengthen your hair and protect it against humidity. Hair gel will work better than a mousse.

• Once the hair is dry, comb it with a wide-toothed comb.

• Frequent blow-drying is also not advisable. Styling devices such as curling rods and flat irons should only be used when absolutely necessary.

• Ensure you wear a hat or a scarf to protect your hair against the effects of ultraviolet rays.

• Oil it once a week to make it stronger. Use almond or olive oil to massage your scalp as this will provide sufficient nutrition to your hair.

• Include fruits and vegetables in your diet for healthy hair.

Causes:

• Hair care experts say some people are born with natural frizzy hair. One may thus inherit the same from their parents.

• The environment also plays a part. If your hair is exposed to too much sun, it can become dry and get damaged. Sunrays dry up the natural moisture, making your hair look dull and frizzy. Humidity and wind also worsen the problem.

• Too much brushing or combing cause split-ends. Using harsh chemicals can also damage your hair. Blow dryers, curling irons, and straightening irons should be used sparingly.

• Overuse of dyes and bleaches tighten hair pores, causing the frizzy look. Oil your hair regularly from the roots to strengthen it.

• Poor diet can also lead to dull, frizzy hair.
