All state officers, including members of parliament, will now take their oaths of allegiance to the new constitution tomorrow and not on Saturday as earlier planned. The change of plan came after MPS warned that any oathing later than the effective date of the promulgation would be illegal. A motion for a special session of the house to take the oaths was changed to move the function to 3pm tomorrow. And, as Ktn’s Emmanuel Talam reports Cabinet Ministers linked to alleged corruption will be sworn in thanks to the powers of the president under the current constitution.
