Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has responded to Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko after the Nairobi Governor insulted him using vulgar words. The video of the Governor went viral that Kenyans took it to social media to demand his arrest.
"I will
not stoop low to engage one Mike Sonko who has a FAKE diploma certificate in
Mortuary attendance. I have more serious issues to deal with" Babu Owino
posted on his Facebook page.
This comes after the Embakasi East MP insulted the president during a rally on Sunday 24 September. Babu Owino was arrested but his lawyer James Orengo defended him saying that he did not mention anyone's name.
"My client here Babu Owino has been charged with creating disaffection against the presidency. My Lords there is nobody in Kenya called the presidency. The presidency is so amorphous that it includes clerks, the deputy President, the chiefs and many others working in the presidency. My Lords, who is this person called the presidency that Babu was causing disaffection against?" Babu Owino posted on his Facebook page bragging at how his lawyer defended him.
Babu Owino was released but re-arrested over varsity assault claims, an offence he allegedly committed when he was vying for the Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) chairman's seat last year.
