Why Mudavadi must not listen to the naysayers on 2022 poll

As President Uhuru Kenyatta's exit looms, politicians have started realigning themselves in readiness for the 2022 General Election.

The deputy president is leaving nothing to chance. He has hit the campaign trail ostensibly on development tours.

He has been to every corner of the country but made more trips to western Kenya. Political pundits say this is due to the Musalia Mudavadi factor.

 Most Kenyans approve of Mudavadi's brand of politics that is gentle and non-polarising.

His competitors know this and always tease him into dropping his presidential bid. President Kibaki was equally gentle but decisive in his candidature.

To date, Kibaki is considered our best president. Mudavadi can emulate Kibaki and keep his eyes on the top prize.

Just like Kibaki, who did not give way to red hot Raila in 2002, Musalia must reject calls by those urging him to support others in the presidential race.

Let him offer himself for the presidency and leave it to Kenyans to decide.
