Manchester United are prepared to offer Juan Mata a new contract as the star is in the final year of his current contract at Old Trafford, according to Metro.
Juan Mata had a tough campaign at Old Trafford last season, scoring just three goals in 40 appearance and United were prepared to sell him.
In January, the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension clause in the Spaniard’s contract to ensure they do not lose the star on a free transfer.
Metro reports that Manchester United are planning to hold talks with Mata when they return to England in a bid to offer a new three-year-old to the 30-year-old that will keep him at the club until 2021.
Many football fans believed that Mata would be sold when Mourinho was appointed the Red Devils’ manager but the former Chelsea number ten has turned out to be an integral member of the Portuguese squad.
