Anthony Martial left Manchester United’s USA tour on Wednesday to fly to Paris for the birth of his child with girlfriend Melanie da Cruz. The child will be his second.
Reports indicated that Jose Mourinho was angry at the star for giving late notice about him leaving the club’s Los Angeles base.
However, according to Metro, the Manchester United manager has clarified that he was aware of Martial’s decision early enough and he respected it.
‘I found out that Martial was going to Paris when he told me. Was two or three days ago,’ said Mourinho.
‘When it is personal reasons, everyone analyses that the way they think is the correct way and when a man is going to be a father in this case, it’s the second time he is going to be a father, and he decides is very important for him to go, nobody has the right to stop him to go.’ He added.

Martial missed the Red Devil’s clash with AC Milan and it is unknown whether the 22-year-old will be return for the remainder of the tour.
