It is a pity that politicians have made the pulpit the place to make political statements.
This week, two candidates vying for the same seat met in a church and threw barbs at each other as the congregation laughed.
There are particular churches these politicians visit frequently and are allowed to greet the congregation (read campaign). This is wrong.
Politicians and the common man are separated by one of the blessings given by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, which says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Politicians are not among those mentioned in the beatitudes.
