A primary school teacher in Nyatike is being investigated following claims he sexually abused five pupils.
Education officials confirmed they were investigating the Sere Primary School teacher after the pupils reportedly opened up about their ordeal.
Another teacher at the school said the affected students, three boys and two girls, approached him three weeks ago and told him the senior teacher had been persuading them to have sex with him.
The teacher and his colleague, who both sought anonymity, said they reported the matter to the head teacher, Joanes Kassam.
He said Mr Kassam called for a meeting with the suspect and the pupils where he (suspect) denied sexually exploiting the minors.

"He denied the claims and alleged some colleagues were framing him for political reasons. But we found his claims baseless because the pupils approached us without being pushed and gave blow-by-blow accounts of how he tried to have sex with them," the teacher said.
Local education officer Elijah Kongere said they would take appropriate action once they were through with their investigations.
The matter has also been reported to Teachers Service Commission sub-county director Mary Siricha.
"Ms Siricha told me they had also investigated the matter and were still compiling their report, which will then be handed over to relevant authorities for necessary action," said Mr Kongere.
The head teacher had written to Kongere's office and asked him to investigate the allegations against the teacher.
