Academic calendar change will help fight exam irregularities

Students cheating in exams in Kenya has been a wound that despite the efforts to treat it, no healing has ever been witnessed.

What students don't understand is that any exam irregularities affect those involved and the innocent.

I believe that changes made by the ministry of education will bear good fruits and may be bring cheating in exams to an end.

Exam leakage occurs in schools in third term during social functions. Doing away with visiting and prayer days in third term is a good thing.

The reduction of KCSE exam duration to three weeks will help reduce the chances of leaking any papers to schools. This is considering the fact that there will be less free time for students as compared to before.

Knec has a big role to play in the fight of exam irregularities. Trust, commitment and being responsible in their job is all that is needed.
