Chemelil Sugar’s coach Mike Mururi was left stunned after his team felt the wrath of Gor Mahia striker, Michael Olunga, who scored four goals for a 4-1 win on Saturday at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
In Machakos, Sofapaka defeated Western Stima 1-0 , while, Bandari won 1-0 against KCB at Kasarani as the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) resumed in various venues.
In Nakuru, Olunga drew the first blood in the 37th minute after being put through by Karim Nizigiyimana. Three minutes later, though, Daniel Murage ensured parity as he picked a loose ball at the edge of the box to beat international goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch.
The second half saw K’Ogalo camp in Chemelil’s half and it didn’t take long before Olunga netted his second in the 56th minute.
His third came from a Nizigiyimana loop, to which Olunga happily picked and chipped over Jairus Adira. Olunga capped his impressive outing with an 84th minute strike, which sent his troops into post-match celebrations.

“It is a good omen to start the second leg like this. In fact, it has given us a lot of morale and we are determined to do even better,” Olunga said.
In Machakos, Ezekial Odera made a brilliant debut for Sofapaka in their win against Western Stima.
Odera’s 40th minute cross was deflected by Stima defender Vitalis Akumu into his own net with goalkeeper Gabriel Andika well beaten.
“That was a perfect start for me and I feel great to have helped the team win. I never got playing time at my previous clubs, but with the confidence and trust the Sofapaka coaches have in me, I will prove critics wrong,” Odera said.
With less than two minutes to halftime, Sofapaka’s defender Willis Ouma cleared Wesley Kemboi’s dangerous cross in the box for a fruitless corner.
On resumption, Stima pilled more pressure on Sofapaka in search of an equaliser, but the trio of captain Felly Mulumba, Willis Ouma and Collins Shivachi held firm to hand assistant coach David Ouma a perfect win.
At Kasarani, Bandari were happy with a 1-0 win over hosts KCB. Anthony Kimani scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute, netting from the spot, after Tom Odhiambo had handled inside his danger zone.
After Kimani’s goal, Bandari preferred to sit back and relied on counter-attacks to catch their opponents on the wrong footing.
The bankers attempted a second half fightback and brought in Andrew for George Banda, but it did not bring much change.
