Nyeri,Kenya: A Nyeri court has fined a househelp Sh200,000 or in default be jailed for three years for stealing items from her employer.
Evelyn Wekesa was convicted for stealing the items belonging to Margaret Wanjiku on November 14, 2013 at Ring Road estate in Nyeri County.
Ms Wekesa admitted stealing her employer’s pair of slippers, a pair of shoes, travelling bag, camera and two mobile phones, all valued at Sh48,800.
She told Nyeri Resident Magistrate Catherine Mburu that she intended to sell the items to raise money to facilitate her travel back home in western Kenya.
