No matter the size of your home, each one has some form of an entryway.

It could just be the door or a space commonly referred to as the foyer. Your foyer or entryway is what your guests see first when they visit. You should, therefore, give it a Christmas touch by decorating it beautifully.

Take your time and create an attractive and inviting foyer with Christmas decorations that set the tone for the rest of the house. Be careful, however, not to add clutter.

The front door: Surround your front door with Christmas ornaments so that as your guests arrive, they know there is something special to look forward to. A pine garland accented with red bows on the edge of the door frame will offer a traditional look; you can then place a pine garland wreath on the door. If you, however, prefer a glam look, get a tinsel garland in gold or silver then add some metallic baubles. String Christmas lights around the door frame to make the décor stand out.

Wreath: Hang a wreath on the front door to welcome your guests and another on the back for your guests to enjoy. You could also create a beautiful arch using fresh Christmas tree branches.

Mirror: It is almost standard that a foyer has a mirror. Add a little holiday flair by hanging a wreath over the front of the mirror. A wide ribbon will help you hang it; you can tie it to the back of the mirror to secure it.

Lampshades: Decorate your lampshades on chandeliers, sconces and table lamps using ribbons that have the Christmas colours. This way, you add holiday flair.

Vases: Fill your tall glass vases with holiday decorations and place them on the floor at the entryway, making sure they do not destruct movement Supermarkets have a variety of beautiful decorations that you can fill your vases with. To make it even more interesting, fill the vase halfway then place a candle or beautiful tall flowers inside.

Floor: Have a place for your guests to wipe their feet as they arrive. Replace your regular doormat with one that has the holiday theme like Santa Claus, Snowman or candy cane. Replace the runner too, with one that has a Christmas theme.

Console display: Utilise the console by replacing the knick-knacks on it with Christmas decorations. Place snowmen, Christmas jars, Christmas figurines and wrapped gifts on the table. You can also hang stockings on the wall over the table. Wrap one or two gifts and place them on or under your console table as a symbol of what is to come.

The wall hanging too, can be replaced with something that has the holiday scheme. You can cover your paintings with Christmas wrapping paper then hang them back on the wall.
