Whenever you’re going out with your friends, the plan is to have as much fun as possible. It’s a chance for you to catch up with your buddies over a few drinks and no one ever expects that anything will go wrong.

As much as it’s exciting to go out, the main thing that you need to think about is your safety. We’ve heard of many situations where people have been mugged and drugged at a club and that’s definitely not something you want to happen.

Luckily, there are many tips that can help you stay safe if you’re planning to go out:

Don’t go to dodgy clubs

The first thing you need to do to avoid problems is to go to reputable clubs. There are those that frequently have these bad incidences and others that are located in unsafe areas.

The best thing is to avoid going to those places that are risky no matter how cheap alcohol is for the sake of your safety.

Go as a group

Clubbing should always be done as a group. It’s never a good idea to go out solo or with one other friend because you stand out as a target for people who want to take advantage of you. Especially in the case of ladies.

It’s better to party at home if the quorum is low than to celebrate the weekend at the club and end up being raped, drugged or worse.

Organize your transport plans early

After a night of partying, the last thing you want to stress over is your transport. Aside from that, it’s very risky to just trust any cab driver when you’re intoxicated.

Before you go out with your friends, set aside enough money for transport and even book someone you trust who can be taking you home whenever you’re going out if none of you have a car.

Watch your drinks at all times

One of the biggest issues about going out is the risk of being drugged. Many people have unfortunately dealt with this situation and that’s why you need to be very careful. It happens a lot.

If you need to go to the washroom, make sure you have your friend there to watch your drink for you. It’s very easy for someone to slip something into your glass or bottle of you leave it unattended so don’t make this mistake.

Don’t get too comfortable with strangers

Going to the club can help you socialize and meet new people, facts. And once the drinks and the music flow in, you start to let your guard down and get too comfortable with strangers.

There are people who go to clubs with bad intentions so you should be extremely careful about that. You should know that not everyone who smiles or dances with you is out there to have a good time which is why you still need to avoid being overly friendly with people you meet there.

Only carry essentials

A club isn’t the place to look flashy. You might be tempted to show off a little but this instantly exposes you to the possibility of being mugged.

Only carry your essentials like your ID and if you can, have a backup phone so that you don’t have to go with your expensive phone.
