Tanzanian ‘Kiatu Kivue’ hit singer was talk of the town after she was arrested a few days ago. According to reports, Rose Muhando was arrested for suspicion of fraud after she allegedly received Tsh800,000 (Ksh37,000) through the Chairman of AICT Singida church choir Mashala Japhet for her to grace an event organized by the choir.
She also received an additional Tsh150,000 (Ksh6,900) as bus fare for an event held in Tanzania’s capital Dodoma where the choir was launching an album but she did not show up or give any explanation for her absence.
The AICT church filed a complaint with the police and the gospel artist was arrested at her home in Ikungi area.
‘’Yes the police arrested me on Sunday, 4th June, but I wasn’t supposed to be the target. They were looking for a different lady whose name is Rose, which is similar to mine. The other Rose is the one who obtained money from the said Church in the pretense that she was me. I am currently at home after securing a release.’’ She said after speaking to a local publication.
Failing to refund the church after skipping the event, upon interrogation Muhando admitted to having received the money but missed it because she had a ‘’sick person at home.’’ But turns out she was performing at another event.
Reports from Tanzanian media have however confirmed that she has agreed to pay back the church.
