The move by the Government to close down schools indefinitely is ill-advised.

It is obvious that third term is one of the shortest terms and closing schools may mean that they will reopen next year.

Thousands of learners have been affected. The situation has gotten out of hand and something needs to be done urgently. In addition, as a country, we should not trade politics in crucial matters like education.

The issue about the Opposition and the Government bracing for supremacy in the whole matter is unnecessary.

Why should the Opposition now take advantage of the situation to play politics? The Government also on its side should address the issue amicably, and be keen on demands of teachers. It should tame these perennial strikes once and for all
