The government is considering starting all HIV positive people who are married to uninfected spouses on antiretroviral treatment earlier. This follows research findings that have revealed the use of ARVs reduces the chances of transmitting the virus to an HIV negative partner by up to 96 per cent. Special programmes minister Esther Murugi says new infections remain high in Kenya and continue to reverse gains made in tackling the pandemic.
