Award-winning contemporary Christian rock band Jars of Clay is in the country. The group performs today during at Mavuno Church during the Jijue One Million concert.
It will also feature performances from Kenya’s own great acts such as Eric Wainaina, Pete Odera, Kanji, Atemi, DJ Mozz, M.O.G, A-Star, Jimmy Gait, Juliani, and others who believe in this noble cause.
The musical outfit has scaled heights releasing nine albums, won three Grammies and nine Dove awards. Jars Of Clay have made millions in shows and record sales yet they remain humble and down to earth. The band from Franklin, Tennessee consists of vocalist Dan Heseltine, pianist Charlie Lowell, keyboardist Stephen Mason and guitarist Matthew Odmark.
"Our band’s name is derived from, 2 Corinthians 4:7 which says we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us," says Heseltine.
"Charlie came up with the name and verse. We all agreed that it was appropriate because it emphasised the frailties of human beings," explains Dan Heseltine.
The show, he adds, will be energetic, loud rock and roll and a grand experience for their Kenyan audience.
"The Jijue Campaign whose main goal is to prevent the spread of aids and to encourage those who are HIV positive to get health care. We want to encourage people to get tested so as to know their status, we are hoping that by the end of the year one million youth will know their HIV status," concludes Gregory Mwendwe, the director of Jijue One million.
