When it comes to tucking in your shirt, you are probably wondering what could go wrong. Well there are a few rules when it comes to tucking in your shirts, blouses and even T-shirts.

Some people feel the urge to tuck in everything so long as it is long enough, whoever you could be doing it wrong and messing up a design or bringing focus to the wrong parts of your body.

Here are some tips to help you know and learn how to tuck in your shirt:

The dos of tucking in a shirt, blouse or T-shirt

Always check the shirt design, if it has a dip in the front, back or both you must tuck in the shirt. The dips are to help it stay tucked in. Always tuck in shirts with thinner material, they are easier to handle and will not bulge around the waist and you can easily add a belt to give it more structure. Always tuck in your blouses and shirts with high-waist pants, they look classier and give your outfit a cleaner finish. When doing the front tuck always ensure the shirt is a little loose or oversized to give it a better structure. When putting on cardigan shirts, always go for the front or side tuck, this way the material can align and not bulge under your skirt or pants. Always front tuck or side tuck your shirts when putting on jeans pants or skirts. This way the outfit can look edgy and well balanced.

The don’ts of tucking in your shirt

Never fully tuck in heavy shirts like flannels or chunky sweaters in your pants or skirts, they will form lumps that will make the final look funny and tacky. Never side or front tuck shirts or blouses with thin material like chiffons, they never stay in place you mind end up looking like you had not planned on tucking in. Never full tuck in a shirt on a low-rise trouser. It will bring focus to your waist and make your torso look longer than it is. Avoid untucking when putting on high-waist pants or skirts, the whole point so that it gives your body structure when you hide the design it beats the logic of putting on a high-waist bottom. Never ever side tuck or front tuck your shirt on with pencil skirts or suit trousers, they look funny and ruin the official look. Avoid tucking in blouses with designs at the bottom or with designs that are not meant to be tucked in. The outcome will look funny and you will ruin the blouse structure.

Tip: When you have a problem with tucking in your shirts, you can always tuck them inside your underwear first then fasten your trouser this way your shirt can stay in place all day long.
