Sophia Mohammed

Sophie Mohammed rose to fame about two years ago while heading to work. “I was heading to my workplace when we found this lorry blocking the road. We got engaged with the matter and as we waited to have the road cleared. I removed my phone and accidentally clicked the camera button.

The picture wasn’t that bad, so I decided to share it on Facebook as I wished my friends a good day. What followed shocked me. I received tens of calls later in the day informing me that my picture was trending,” she recalled.

While being a cop is not an easy task, Sophie appeared to have made up her mind a long time ago with the aim of addressing challenges women face when reporting cases at police stations.

“Since my childhood, I always wanted to become a policewoman because I used to imagine how difficult it must be for women to file reports at police stations. I was concerned that their cases were probably not being handled well”, she said, adding that, “My wish was to be in a position to help women overcome such challenges and as fate would have it, I got the opportunity to offer that service.”

With her fetching beauty, she attracted hundreds of men, and still does, who hit on her on a daily basis. But Sophie says she has learnt the art of dealing with Team Mafisi without coming across as rude. On a daily basis, she turns down between 10 to15 men interested in her.

When not on duty, the mother of one loves reading the Bible and visiting children’s homes.
