Former Citizen TV news presenter and corporate MC Janet Mbugua has recently wowed many by driving a Matatu (A public transport van) in Mathare area.
The all pink matatu is designed by women through a project supported by UNICEF, Australian Embassy and Femme International.
Janet did this to highlight the plight of women in the slums. The month of March is highlighted to celebrate women worldwide and this project was a collective effort to celebrate women across the world.
The matatu design done by Sarah Arts who is a Sole Kenyan female matatu designer had pictures of Margaret Kenyatta, Wangari Maathai, Lupita Nyongo and other famous female figures.
She said, “I got the chance to have a great conversation with a group of young, driven women in a matatu designed by the sole Kenyan female matatu designer in Kenya haven’t ridden in a matatu in a while by the way.
