The first time I came to Nairobi was when I was posted as the diplomat here. One thing that struck me was the endless traffic jams.
There were so many vehicles along the streets of Nairobi that when I went back to Addis Ababa, the city almost felt empty. But the strange thing about Nairobi is that despite many cars on the road, there are very few accidents.
In Addis Ababa, this is not the case. There are many accidents, although not serious ones, during heavy traffic because many drivers ‘overlap.’
Otherwise, I think the city is pretty much the same, though Addis Ababa is slightly bigger; so there were very many surprises.
