Part of a morgue under construction close to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital in Mbale Town collapsed on Sunday, killing one and injuring 11 others.
"I want to confirm that we have lost one of the workers who died on the spot when the wall collapsed workers who were trapped in the debris. Of the nine survivors, one of them broke his leg and is currently receiving treatment at the county referral hospital," said Governor Wilber Ottichilo.
County Commander Benjamin Ong'ombe told the press they were searching for the contractor’s identity and will issue summons as part of the investigations.
"We have started investigations to know who is to blame. We call for calm. The contractor will be summoned," said Ong’ombe.
According to reports, there were more than 38 workers at the site during the incident.
