KENYA: Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has dismissed claims that his decision to pursue a university degree was driven by the urge to contest for the city’s governorship.
Sonko says he went to school to enhance his skills and not for the sole purpose of contesting for the Nairobi governor seat. "It's not true that I want to be governor of Nairobi and I had to go back to class. This was meant to equip me with more skills," he said during a rehearsal for Friday’s graduation.
However, the senator says he leaves it to voters to decide which seat he should seek in 2017.
"For now I am concentrating in serving my people and in 2017, should they ask me to seek MCA or MP I will do that. I am ready for any seat other than the Presidency."
