“I will no longer be a tenant. In a few months time I will have a proper roof over my head.”
These were the words of Lameck Ogot who won the Sh800,000 jackpot bonus at leading global bookmaker and sports betting firm Betway over the weekend.
The elated father of three said it was like a dream come true for him as his account has never handled a six-digit figure during his 41 years on earth.
“I am going to buy a plot within Homa Bay town and build a house for my family. I am tired of giving landlords rent every month,” said Ogot.
Ogot, who termed the windfall ‘an early Christmas for my family’ also added that his family would dress properly this festive season in addition to enjoying the festivity with proper meals.

Ogot won the bonus in his fourth attempt at the 12-team jackpot he started betting on from last month. He got 11 of the 12 jackpot predictions correct to achieve the feat.
But the Homa Bay County Public Service Board employee is not done yet as he says the win has now inspired and empowered him to attempt greater heights at the jackpot.
“Now I have the economic power and the muscle to bet. I will concentrate my aim at the jackpot again,” he noted.
Ogot, who first learnt of Betway in The Standard newspaper, explained he has no formula in betting.
“I just bet randomly, I have realised if I analyse or research on matches then I tend to fail terribly,” he said.
Ogot’s win comes two weeks after three local gamblers were made millionaires by the firm after they won the Sh8.5m jackpot. Currently, the site’s jackpot stands at Sh8m.
The betting site recently announced a Sh15m bonanza, which has a Sh1.5m bonus prize.
