Police have arrested two suspects and recovered body parts of a 34-year-old woman who mysteriously disappeared from her Naivasha home in December last year.

Her skull and parts of her two arms were recovered in two locations in Naivasha after Sarah Nafula's former boyfriend directed the police where he had dumped the body.

According to police reports, the suspect gave four different locations where he allegedly dumped the body parts following the killing last December.

Nafula's disappearance was reported at Gilgil Police Station in December by members of her family after a long search.

At one point, it was claimed that she had returned to her rural home in Western Kenya but police traced her mobile phone location to her ex-boyfriend's house where they arrested him and a conspirator.

Gilgil police commander John Onditi confirmed the arrest of the ex-boyfriend, noting that they would be seeking more time in the courts to allow the officers to search for the other missing body parts.

Locked body in the house

Onditi said initial investigations revealed that the main suspect murdered the deceased before locking the body in the house for a day.

Police said the suspect confessed to the murder and with the help of his friend, they would cut her into pieces before wrapping them in polythene bags and dumping them in different locations

“The suspects have confessed that some of the body parts were dumped in a latrine in the residential plot where the couple lived,” said Onditi.

“The other parts were dumped in different parts of the town including an abandoned structure and we have so far recovered the head and arms,” he added.

A neighbour to the couple James Masinde said he was shocked on learning about the murder and the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

“We have known the two for a long time and they looked happy before the woman went missing with the man claiming that she had left for her rural home,” he said.

Differences

Police recovered the skull and parts of the hands with fears that the others were mauled by dogs.

Close family members revealed that the differences between Nafula and the man started in early December when deceased who was staying with the main suspect went missing in unclear circumstances.

According to a police source, the suspect claimed that the woman who worked in one of the flower farms had gone back to her rural areas after a fall-out.

“The family, however, got concerned as they could not reach her forcing them to report the matter to Gilgil police station where investigations started,” said the officer.

It, however, emerged that her last phone call was made in Industrial area estate in Naivasha where police moved in and arrested the boyfriend and an accomplice over the weekend.

On interrogation, the suspect confessed how he murdered the deceased on suspicion of having an extra-marital affair.

“He has led the investigating team to four sites where the skull and hands were discovered dumped under a culvert near the Naivasha Mall,” said the officer.
