Sorcery tools found at aspirant’s gate

Suspected sorcery paraphernalia were found buried near the gate of a parliamentary aspirant, Joel Malakwen Mengich, in a village in Nandi County.

This was after his watchman Leonard Lenkai exhumed a decaying sheep’s head wrapped in a polythene bag and a rag on Wednesday morning in Kipsebwo village.

Lenkai claimed that he saw the dog sniffing the ground and struggling to uncover the buried substance.

Youthful supporters of the aspirant began searching for the mysterious witch at a nearby tea plantation without success.

The bewildered residents later burnt the head after a lengthy consultation between church leaders and elders.

Mr Malakwen, who was reported to be in Nairobi, could not be reached for comment on the matter.

Kipsebwo chief James Lagat told The Standard on Thursday there was calm despite the strange findings.

The aspirant’s supporters claim his opponents may have resorted to underhand dealings to stop his ambition of becoming area MP.
