The controversy over the LG Cup has almost distracted Kenyans' attention from a very important fixture coming just a day after the Kenya-Sudan match. Uganda Cranes are standing in Harambee Stars’ way to the All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique in September.
Stars host Uganda on June 26 at the Nyayo National Stadium with a return leg in Kampala after two weeks, Football Kenya Limited Second Vice Chairman, Erastus Okul, who is also in charge of international match management told FeverPitch.
"We shall host Uganda on June 26, which is a Sunday, at the Nyayo National Stadium because of the LG Cup against Sudan which will be on June 25 at the same venue," Okul said.
Although the tournament is meant for under-23 players, he said they intend to invite three senior players who he did not name. "But we have good under 23 players like George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo and Victory Mugabe who can handle that pressure well," said Okul.

A lot of focus has been out on the LG Cup, which Harambee Stars Management Board and the Minister for Sport Dr Paul Otuoma disowned. The Board said they were not involved in the deliberations that led to the signing of the contract, and threatened not to release Harambee Stars players for the assignment.
But the sponsors later confirmed the fixture would go on as planned.
Billboards have been mounted in strategic positions in Nairobi announcing the encounter.
