The thawing of relations between Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu of Narc could be headed towards cold headwinds following accusations by a Wiper MP that the governor was dishonest and disrespectful.
For the what he considers disrespect, Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi, has threatened to mobilise boda boda men to ‘work on’ Ngilu.
The controversial MP who walks around with a fly whisk once challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to face him in contest to determine who between them was armed with a bigger ‘machine gun’ between the legs. He has now warned that the governor is barred from visiting any part of Mwingi Central constituency without his express permission and approval.
“Does she know who Tsunami is? I want to be locked in the same house with her so that she may know who Tsunami is. If she comes here again without informing me, I will organise strong boda boda men to lock her in a house and work on her properly,” Mulyungi said. Tsunami is the nickname given to the MP by his supporters.
Addressing boda boda men at Mwingi Gardens recently, Mulyungi described Ngilu as a political chameleon who had one foot in the opposition and another in the Jubilee government. He also took issues with the governor’s earlier visit during which she was accompanied by ‘Jubilee sympathisers’.

“She is lying to Kalonzo that they are together, yet at home, she is busy walking with Jubilee supporters. She is a chameleon and I am putting her on notice. She must have a clear stand so that we know if she is with us or not,” Mulyungi warned.
He said Ngilu’s tour of his constituency without notifying him was an act of disrespect.
“This is a Wiper zone and I am fully in Wiper. I will not allow her to come here with Jubilee supporters,” Mulyungi vowed.
He then added that any continued show of disrespect by Ngilu will prompt him to grab the governor’s seat from her in 2022 “because Tsunami has the capacity. She should not provoke me.”
Ngilu supporters reacted angrily and condemned the attack on the governor after an audio clip of Mulyungu’s remarks went viral on Kitui County WhatsApp groups.
The first to declare war on Mulyungi was county executive in charge of gender, sports and tourism Patrick Koki Musau who gave the MP 24 hours to apologise to the governor and women of the county otherwise “I will deal with him personally.”
“The utterances are totally unacceptable and Mulyungi must refrain and apologise. He must know that Kitui County has only one boss and Ngilu is not his equal. MPs must give space to the governor to deliver services to the people,” Musau said.
A day later, the county minister ‘raided’ Mwingi town with his boys where they held a rally castigating the MP.
“He has no choice but to apologise. If he does not, I will personally fish him out of his hiding place and deal with him. The governor does not need his approval to tour any part of this constituency,” Musau declared.
The county minister cautioned that Mulyungi’s grandstanding would derail the governor’s development agenda for Mwingi Central and called on him to tone down his political rhetoric.
The chairman of Kitui County Youth Movement Moses Munyalo also voiced his disapproval of the legislator.
“It is regrettable that the MP has formed a habit of belittling and demeaning other elected leaders. We are giving him seven days to apologise in writing. Mulyungi is power-drunk and ignorant because the governor does not need anyone’s approval to tour any part of Kitui County,” Munyalo said.
On April 10 this week, scores of people were injured in Mwingi town when supporters of the two leaders clashed in Mwingi town.
Mwingi Central Ward Rep Philmah Kanini who was leading a demo in support of Ngilu was forced to flee for dear life after Mulyungi’s supporters allegedly accosted them. Police lobbed teargas canisters to disperse the rival groups.
With the rising tension, many have suggested that Ngilu and Mulyungi should have a round table meeting and shake hands for the sake of peace.
“That will not happen. The governor is not at the same level with the MP. Mulyungi does not need round table negotiation. We will deal with him man to man,” stated Musau.
