Relegation fighting Nzoia Sugar on Sunday slowed down Tusker's title charge after holding the Brewers to a 2-2 draw in an FKF Premier League game staged at the Ruaraka Grounds.

Tusker were keen on returning to winning ways heading to the game after last weekend's barren draw against Nairobi City Stars while Nzoia were keen on getting their first win in eight games.

Tanzanian import Ibrahim Joshua gave Tusker the lead at the stroke of halftime after launching Isaac Kipyegon’s free-kick to poke the ball into the back of the net.

In the final half, Joseph Mwangi levelled the scores for Nzoia in the 68th minute before Ian Karani gave the relegation threatened side a surprise 2-1 lead four minutes later.

Joshua would however salvage a point for Robert Matano with a goal In the 75th minute which levelled the scores at 2-2.

The draw saw tusker go top with 57 points, same as Homeboyz who have an inferior goal difference.

Meanwhile, Bandari cut the lead between them and joint leaders Tusker and Homeboyz to four points after a 2-0 victory over 10-man Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Annex.

Brian Odera and Abdalla Hassan scored in the first half to lead the dockers to victory as they kept their hopes of lifting the title alive.

Bandari have 53 points, four behind the joint leaders.
