A 38-year-old man killed his wife before committing suicide by hanging following a domestic dispute in Nandi County.
In the Sunday night incident, Ednah Kurgat, a mother of three, was attacked by her husband at her uncle Philip Songok's homestead in Mosop, where she had fled to after a disagreement.
Ednah's aunt, Emily Sawe, said the man had been hiding behind a fence and only jumped into the compound when he saw his wife. She tried to reason with him to resolve their dispute amicably but he refused to listen.
“I heard my niece pleading with her husband not to kill her. He cut her on the hand and neck with a panga in anger and without uttering a word. She later succumbed to injuries on the spot,” said Ms Sawe.
