Not fired: IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba when he appeared before the National Assembly Public Accounts Committee at Parliament. [Archive/Standard]
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has dismissed reports making rounds on the interwebs that suspended CEO Ezra Chiloba has been fired.
The Commission posted via twitter;
It is not true that CEO Ezra Chiloba, who is on suspension, has been dismissed from employment. What is true is that the disciplinary process is on-going and the Commission will make an objective decision on the matter. — IEBC (@IEBCKenya) September 25, 2018
It was alleged that the decision was arrived at by the commission’s Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and two other commissioners, all of which IEBC has denied.

Trouble has rocked the electoral agency in the recent past.
About two weeks ago, IEBC acting finance director Agatha Wahome and Abednego Ominde who served as Chiloba's personal assistant were arrested following allegations that they attempted to sneak out files from the commission offices, prior to his (Chiloba’s) return.
On April 9, 2018, Chiloba had been suspended from office following the agency’s internal audit report that flagged the flawed procurement of goods and services for the 2017 general election.
"The commission has resolved to suspend you with immediate effect pending an audit of all major procurements relating to the August 8 general elections,” said IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The embattled Chiloba was also suspended for a second time on June 15, 2018.
