Makindu: A woman died on the spot with a man believed to be her husband hospitalized at Makindu sub-county hospital after their motorcycle was hit by a lorry at Makindu along Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The accident occurred at around 11.30am when a Mombasa bound lorry hit the motorbike that the two were riding on killing the lady on the spot.
Police say the driver of the lorry escaped from the accident scene but was later arrested.
“Investigations have have been launched and the driver of the lorry has been arrested awaiting to be arraigned in court”, said area police boss Henrietta Wanyama.
However, an eye witness identified as Wamtoo said the accident occurred after the lorry swayed from the road hitting the two who were ridding off the busy road.

The body of the deceased has been preserved in the Makindu sub-county hospital mortuary.
