President Uhuru Kenyatta will today fly into Raila Odinga's Nyanza stronghold as he tries to woo a stubborn Opposition region.
State House confirmed the visit on Tuesday, but did not immediately release the programme for the day-long visit. The tour comes barely a fortnight after Raila, who is Uhuru's main rival in the August polls, campaigned in the President's home turf of Kiambu.
Senior security officials in Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay had a busy day as they held a flurry of meetings ahead of the visit.
Sources within Government told The Standard Uhuru will visit Nyamuga Primary School, a stone's throw from Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo's home, to launch the laptop project.
Homa Bay County Commissioner Farah Mohammed confirmed the visit. "I have received official communication from State House that the President will be here tomorrow (today).
