The Mashemeji Derby lived up to its billing.
Coming into the game, Coach Ze Maria had one up against Stewart Hall having been around for a similar derby on October 23 last year where Gor won 2-0. For Hall, this was his first derby.
This also being the first derby pitting me against my sister from the Den, Monica Binti Ngere, bragging rights were at stake. It does not really matter where a team is on the table when it is derby time, both teams get into the match with one single aim; to win!
Similarly, the respective fans get into the stadium with one objective; to support their team to victory.

The derby morning found K'Ogalo ranked second in the Kenyan Premier League standings, while our Mashemeji were languishing at fifth. With Rangers having won the previous day, it essentially became a battle for the second spot. Grab the win and the second spot is all but guaranteed.
Our Ze Maria had cautioned fans against giving the players unnecessary pressure ahead of the match. Fans had been singling out players for individual criticisms through the social media.
Likewise, he advised the players against the use of social media ahead of the match, if only to insulate themselves from negative comments.
In the run up to the match, My Sister Monica and the Ingwe lovers heaped lots of praise on their striker Feamenyo, that name in Anglo-Luo means "fearing to look for (goals)" and while we pride ourselves in striker Kagere, the name in Anglo-Luo to mean "so what if I build or grow (K'Ogalo)".
The names were in sync with the strikers' actions in this match. Whereas Ingwe's Ghanaian had the Mashemeji afraid of looking for goals, K'Ogalo's Rwandese led K'Ogalo in extending the gap between us and the Leopards to five!
He scored one and was involved in the two others! It was Ze Maria's "Pimo Pass Gi Ruler with Grit" style at its most efficient and effective display.
For those who are not very well versed with K'Ogalo versus Ingwe derby matters, there is usually no room for being lukewarm.
You are either K'Ogalo or Ingwe and even married couples separate at the gates to take respective sitting positions. There is no room for making mistakes.
Therefore, attempts by Senator Sonko to introduce bipartisan support on derby day with his designer T-shirts came a cropper!
My sister from the Den, you should know people. One up for K'Ogalo and one for Me!
