A woman was burnt to death at Ndege Oriedo village in Rongo, following a row over chicken.
Irene Akinyi, 37, a mother of four, died while undergoing treatment at Lwala Health Centre after her in-law doused her in petrol and set her on fire on Thursday.
She was allegedly attacked by the wife of her brother-in-law, who accused her of selling her hen.
According to her brother-in-law Patrick Ondigo, trouble started when the suspect sold the deceased hen. Both women have chicken that have striking similarities.
“She sold the deceased’s hen knowingly and left hers which was sick. When the deceased asked her, a confrontation ensued that later led to death,” Ondigo said. That evening, the suspect bought petrol at Ndege Oriedo Shopping Centre which she used to do the unthinkable.
