Patients admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu are not provided with mosquito nets.

Being a referral hospital, many would expect it to play a leading role in the fight and eradication of malaria in the region. In this respect, it should have adequate treated mosquito nets for every patient admitted at the facility.

Patients being admitted to the hospital are forced to dig deep into their pockets and purchase their own nets. And those from poor backgrounds are forced to stay without nets, increasing their risk of contracting malaria.

The hospital's management in collaboration with both the county and national governments should provide all patients admitted at the hospital with treated mosquito nets.
