Police seeking granny who circumcised five girls in Nyandarua

Kinangop, Kenya: Police are seeking a granny who circumcised five girls leaving two of them bleeding profusely in Kinangop, Nyandarua County.

The minors have been admitted in critical condition in Engineer town.

Trouble started after five minors from different parts of the Kinangop underwent cut in unclear circumstances.

According to a witness Judy Wambui, for years, the granny had been circumcising girls in various villages in the area.

Wambui noted that at the weekend, the granny carried out the exercise on five minors but the operation did not go as planned.

“Two of the minors suffered deep cuts on their private parts and were rushed to a local health center where they are recuperating,” she said.

It was then that administration police officers moved in and arrested the parents of one of the minors.

Nyandarua South OCPD Samson Munyao confirmed the incident adding that they are seeking other people involved in the exercise.
