Nyeri County: Police have confirmed that Esther Lenayapa, wife of State House Comptroller Lawrence Lenayapa, was on Sunday evening robbed in Muthaiga Estate in Narumoru, Nyeri County.
Central Region Police Spokesman Ephantus Kiura said Ms Lenyapa was dropping off a friend at Muthaiga estate at around 7pm when she was accosted.
“A group of four men armed with an AK 47 rifle, on a motorcycle, blocked her vehicle and robbed them of Sh22,000 and two mobile phones valued at Sh84,000,” said Kiura.
Police say the gunmen sped off on the motorcycle, which they are yet to identify.

Ms Lenayapa and her friend were however, not injured during the robbery and police are carrying out investigation into the incident.
By time of going to press on Monday, no arrests had been made.
