Mombasa, Kenya: A five-year-old girl is fighting for her life at the Coast General Hospital (CGH) after an unknown sexual predator defiled her for four hours in Kadongo slum in Mishomoroni on Sunday.
The girl was taken to hospital yesterday after the Sunday evening ordeal and surgeons took eight hours to operate on her. Reports indicate the attacker(s) were drug addicts who seized her at night.
Doctors said reconstructive surgery had been performed on the victim who was bleeding profusely from raptured organs when brought to hospital and she was now under 24-hour observation in intensive care.
Mishomoroni Kadongo area is an informal settlement where some youths are addicted to drugs.

According to the girl’s father (name withheld), his daughter disappeared suddenly at around 8pm on Sunday while outside their house. Her parents said they searched for her for hours in vain.
“I went to report at Nyali Police Station at around 11.30pm after realising my daughter was missing, but at around 12.30am two of my neighbours brought her. She was soaked in blood and mud and when we looked at her, we realised that she had been raped and sodomised,” he said.
He said all her clothes were soaked in blood and she was weeping uncontrollably and was rushed to CGH where she was checked and taken in for surgery.
The victim’s father said he suspected his daughter was gang-raped and her internal organs destroyed.
When The Standard visited the girl at the hospital she was in the acute ward where patients with serious conditions were admitted and was writhing in pain as nurses administered medication to her.
Her parents and other family members watched in agony while the minor was being taken to the X-ray room where further scanning was to be done to establish the extent of injuries. “I don’t know who did this to my daughter. All I want to ask the police is to ensure the area is secure enough so that a similar action does not happen to another innocent child. I also pray that a speedy investigation is conducted to apprehend the culprits,” he said.
Confirming the incident, Kisauni OCPD Fredrick Nyaga said he was aware of the case and that a probe was being conducted. “I don’t want to comment on the matter because the victim is a minor but I understand that investigations are being conducted and the culprits will be arrested,” said Mr Nyaga.
Reports show no one has been arrested over the attack.
