Kenya women polo team have landed two international invites after an impressive outing last week.
Some of the team members have also been picked for an international coaching course to be held in India in October.
The invites come barely a week after Kenya edged United States of America 5-4 to clinch the Third Statehood Day Women’s Polo Tournament at Kangjeibung Grounds in Manipur, India, last Sunday.
The victory put Kenya on polo global map where the best polo players are excited to face the world’s best talents.
Top countries that have requested Kenya for friendlies include USA and Australia, who were hot favourites in the India tournament.
“Australia and USA have invited us for a rematch,” Nairobi Polo Club Vice Captain, Rowena Stichbury, said.
“We feel honoured to be invited by top nations in the world as far as the game is concerned.
“India Polo Association has also expressed their desire to play with Kenya again,” Stichbury added.
The team was treated to a VIP reception at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) when they landed back from India on Tuesday.
Team captain, Tiva Gross, immediately left the country on Wednesday for a high profile tournament in Barbados set for this weekend. “I’m looking forward to have a good time in Barbados. I will strive to steer my side to a win.” [Standard Sports]
