A Machakos man will serve three years in jail for being in possession of bhang.

Antony Philip was arrested by the public who were responding to a distress call after he attacked two people at a lodging house and robbed them of two mobile phones.

The prosecution said that it was while searching the accused that rolls of bhang valued at Sh600 was found on him.

He was arrested and put in custody at the Kyumbi Police Station. The prosecution produced thirty rolls of bhang as evidence in court.

In mitigation, the accused said that he was working with a Chinese construction company and that he is an orphan. In its ruling, the court said that his mitigation had been considered, and convicted him on his own plea of guilt.

He was given 14 days to appeal the judgement.
