Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyongó surprised 40 students with scholarships worth 1,185,500 million shillings. She did this while making an appearance at the NAACP's ACT-SO Awards.

The ACT-SO inspires young black students to expand their horizons and sharpen their skills. It further promotes growth in subjects like business, visual arts, performing arts and culinary arts.

The ‘Black Panther’ star presented the scholarships to students who were part of the year-long programme.

"I am so thrilled to join Lancome, on behalf of their Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, to award this incredible group of women with these game-changing scholarships," she said during the award ceremony.

“Since I was a child, I have always had big dreams, and my education has played a huge part in helping me realize them,” says Nyong’o. “I’ve always loved learning, and I believe that learners change the world. I am so thrilled to join Lancôme, on behalf of their Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, to award this incredible group of women with these game-changing scholarships,” Lupita continued while delivering her speech.

The NAACP partnership helps bring equity to education and encourages career development in the United States. The brand pledged to donate $2 million by 2025.
